I am going to tell you about one of the best selling crime novel written by "Agatha Christie ".


Agatha Christe is the world's best-selling mystery writer.
 And she was often referred to as the "Queen of Crime"

Every book published in UK has Agatha Christie's short biography printed on it.
On every book " The Murder of Roger Ackroyd " is mentioned as the " Masterpiece of Agatha Christie ".

Plot Summary :


  • When the widow, Mrs. Ferrars, commits suicide, and the wealthy Roger Ackroyd is murdered within a few days, the small English village of King's Abbot is even more full of gossip than usual.
  • The murder seems likes a complete mystery to the police.
  • Fortunately, Hercule Poirot, The Famous Detective retired from his detective work and moved to the small English village of King's Abbot.
  • Poirot investigates the murder of Roger Ackroyd with Dr. James Sheppard, the town doctor and good friend of Mr. Ackroyd, by his side.
  • He has a sister Caroline Sheppard and she almost predicts everything accurately.(She's one of the best character in this novel ) 
  • Everyone in Mr. Ackroyd's household is a suspect.
  • As Poirot unravels the case, many secrets on love and money, comes out about each member of the household.
  • Although every member of the household is a suspect at some point, the case looks the worst for Ralph Paton, Mr. Ackroyd's stepson.

  1. Mrs. Cecil Ackroyd 
  2. Roger's neurotic, hypochondriac sister-in-law who has accumulated personal debts through extravagant spending 
  3. Her daughter Flora
  4. Major Blunt, a big-game hunter
  5. Geoffrey Raymond, Ackroyd's personal secretary
  6. Ralph Paton, Ackroyd's stepson
  7. another person with heavy debts.

The book ends with an unpredicted plot twist. ( The Best )
